A coarse-textured fern with thick, well-separated fronds — 30cm tall and 300g, which is heavy for the height. Where the Filmy Fern and Twin Lace Fern are delicate, this one has visual weight, so a single plant can anchor the midground of a 3-foot tank on its own.
That density is also the reason not to buy several. Two of these in a mid-size tank reads as a wall rather than a planting.
Features
- 30cm, 300g — dense and heavy for its height
- Coarse frond texture — contrast against fine-leaved plants
- Feature scale — one plant is enough for a mid-size tank
- No maintenance — no lighting, CO2, fertiliser or trimming, and herbivorous fish will not eat it
Care
Rinse under warm running water before it goes in the tank. Every few months, lift it out and swish it in a bucket of old tank water to shift the algae film that settles on any decor — never use soap or detergent.
Worth knowing
Artificial plants do not take up nitrate or oxygenate the water the way live plants do. They are for structure, cover and looks — your filter and water changes still do the work.
