Spiky spinifex foliage in mixed red and green, 26cm tall and 455g. The two-tone colour is the reason to choose this one: in a tank that is already full of green, a single-colour plant just adds to the mass, while the red picks out the shape and gives the eye somewhere to land.
The corollary is that it fights with other coloured decor. In a scape that already has red gravel or bright ornaments, the plain green plants in the range will sit better.
Features
- 26cm — tall midground or short background
- Mixed red and green — colour contrast without a separate ornament
- Spiky upright blades — texture against broad-leaf plants
- 455g — one of the heavier bases in the range
- No maintenance — no lighting, CO2, fertiliser or trimming, and herbivorous fish will not eat it
Care
Rinse under warm running water before it goes in the tank. Every few months, lift it out and swish it in a bucket of old tank water to shift the algae film that settles on any decor — never use soap or detergent.
Worth knowing
Artificial plants do not take up nitrate or oxygenate the water the way live plants do. They are for structure, cover and looks — your filter and water changes still do the work.
