Amazon Jungle Upright Fern Aquarium Plant

A fern that grows up rather than out — 35cm tall and only 197g, with the fronds held close to the vertical. That habit is useful in back corners and beside equipment, where a spreading plant would push into the swimming space.

The narrow footprint is also its limitation: on its own it looks like a single stem. In a wide tank, plant two or three in a row to make a screen.

Care

Rinse under warm running water before it goes in the tank. Every few months, lift it out and swish it in a bucket of old tank water to shift the algae film that settles on any decor — never use soap or detergent.

Worth knowing

Artificial plants do not take up nitrate or oxygenate the water the way live plants do. They are for structure, cover and looks — your filter and water changes still do the work.
